The 2019 baseball season is in full swing and in just a few weeks, it will hit its exciting midway point. As all of you sports fans should know, it is almost the time of the year for the epic MLB All Star Game! It won’t be long before the festivities begin, so let’s take a look at what you need to know leading up to the exciting game.

As usual, All-Star voting is part popularity contest, part reflection of the first half’s top performers. For all of the criticism the ballots receive each year, though, the game usually presents a fairly accurate snapshot of the league. Los Angeles Angels Mike Trout was the top MLB All-star vote-getter.

All-Star pitchers and reserves will be announced Sunday, June 30, at 5:30 p.m. ET

When and Where is the 2019 MLB All Star Game

The MLB All-Star Game is coming back to Cleveland! The game will be held at Progressive Field on July 9, 2019.

This will be the sixth time the Cleveland Indians will be hosting the All-Star Game. This will also establish the Indians as the team to have hosted the most All-Star Games, breaking a four-way tie with the Pittsburgh Pirates, St. Louis Cardinals, and Cincinnati Reds, who have each hosted the game five times.

In addition, the event will also coincide with Progressive Field’s 25th anniversary and make it the second All Star Game hosted by the ballpark.

The 2019 MLB All Star Game will kick off on July 9, but the festivities do not start there. A fantastic five days’ worth of events will get underway on Friday, July 5th. Check out the exciting events below:

All Star Concert Series

Twenty One Pilots and The Killers will be the headliners of the free, two-day MLB All Star Concert series. The concerts will take place outside Play Ball Park in downtown Cleveland and the night will conclude with a classic fireworks display. This concert series is free but you still have to get your hands on tickets for admission.

When and where: July 5 & 6, 8 p.m. (gates open at 6 p.m.) at Mall B of PLAY BALL PARK outside the Huntington Convention Center

PLAY BALL PARK

While in Cleveland, don’t miss PLAY BALL PARK, the largest indoor/outdoor baseball interactive theme park in the world. With over 40 attractions and 600,000 sq. ft. of baseball fun, kids and adults alike will surely have a fantastic time.

When and where: July 5-9 (indoor park from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m., outdoor from 10 a.m. to10 p.m.) in Huntington Convention Center of Cleveland and The Malls

The Bridge

The Bridge is a one-day event curated by the MLB Diversity & Inclusion Department during All Star Week that will “bridge” baseball and culture. The goal of this is to connect baseball with other cultural forward areas such as fashion, art, music, and technology to not only reach and attract a diverse audience but also meet them where they already engage socially.

When and where: July 6, 11 a.m. to 6 p.m., Red Space, Cleveland, OH. Event is free and open to public but you have to RSVP to attend.

MLB All-Star Celebrity Softball Game

It’s Cleveland vs. The World in this year’s Celebrity Softball game at Progressive Field. Rounding out All Star Sunday, witness a star-studded matchup of Cleveland’s most promising athletes and celebrities taking on the biggest names from everywhere else.

After softball, Cleveland’s Welshly Arms will take the stage for a two-song set.

SiriusXM All-Star Futures Game

The SiriusXM All-Star Futures Game features the top Minor League prospects competing in a nine-inning contest as part of MLB All-Star Sunday. Many of today’s All-Stars made their first appearances on a Major League stage at the SiriusXM All-Star Futures Game. Hall of Famer and five-time All-Star Jim Thome and four-time All-Star Dennis Martínez will serve as managers during the 2019 SiriusXM All-Star Futures Game.

After this, get ready for Rock & Roll Hall of Fame inductees Joan Jett and the Blackhearts as they perform a special set that includes the iconic rock classic “I Love Rock ‘N’ Roll.”

All-Star Rock ‘n’ Blast

Following the SiriusXM All-Star Futures Game, fans can witness a breathtaking adaptation of the Indians award-winning annual fireworks and multimedia show. The immersive experience is nearly 25 minutes of music, fireworks, and multimedia. Fans can expect imaginative scoreboard graphics and a dazzling fireworks display extending around the entire ballpark. The All-Star Rock ‘n’ Blast show will be a “best of” compilation of past shows.

The Color Run MLB All-Star 5K

Major League Baseball and the largest 5K event series in the world, The Color Run, are teaming up for the sixth summer in a row to bring The Color Run MLB All-Star 5K to MLB All-Star Week in Cleveland.

When and where: July 7 at 8 a.m. (subject to change), Downtown Cleveland, OH

T-Mobile Home Run Derby

The stars come out Monday night to crush home runs out of Progressive Field in the 2019 T-Mobile Home Run Derby.
