NFL Preseason Week 2

NFL Preseason 2018 Week 2: Games, Odds, And Everything You Need To Know

The NFL Preseason kicked off last week with a bang. And it’s an understatement to say that fans are excited at the way things are heating up. Week 1 just flew by and Week 2 is gifting us with more nail-biting matchups! Read ahead to know more!

Now, we all know that the absence of our favorite game left holes in our hearts all those months without it. But the good news is that American Football is finally back! And last week saw the start of the much-anticipated NFL Preseason 2018. Week 1 was a marvel. It was filled with some wow-worthy moments, including some high-bar performances from rookies and close calls that are enough to get our blood up and running. And if the first week is anything to go by, we should expect some more epic moments for Week 2. We’ve got you covered. Read ahead for more information about the upcoming NFL Preseason 2018 Week 2.

Week 1 Recap

Before we jump ahead and talk about what Week 2 is all about, why don’t we take a small recap of last week’s best highlights?

Arizona Cardinals – 24, Los Angeles Chargers – 17

It’s the first time in a while since we’ve seen David Johnson in action since breaking his wrist at last year’s Preseason games. And it was one of the highlights to see him carry twice for 28 yards, especially the highlight rush. But it was Geremy Davis who took the spotlight, reaching over a defender to take the ball and taking it to the end zone.

Minnesota Vikings – 42, Denver Broncos – 28

Minnesota showed just how well they chose their rookies, with quarterback Kirk Cousins performing perfectly and Stefon Diggs shining for one glorious touchdown. On Denver’s corner, however, things were a little bit underwhelming. After a lackluster for steamers and their first four divers going 3-and-out three times, anyone could see it wasn’t going their way. Chad Kelly, on the other hand, provided some spark by throwing two touchdowns.

Indianapolis Colts – 19, Seattle Seahawks 17

Take a deep breath. The Seahawks has lost a preseason game for the first time since 2016. And yes, it was every bit as disappointing as you would expect. But what’s a preseason without a dramatic folly? Everything was going well. Seattle’s six-game preseason winning streak seems to be holding as the Colts almost hilariously hands over seven points with a Bennie-hill level blooper. But during the second half, Shaquem Griffin played with a vengeance and managed four tackles during his first defensive drive, finishing the game with nine further superb tackles.

Houston Texans – 17, Kansas City Chiefs – 10

Another preseason norm is seeing your early favorites flunking around and not meeting your expectations. This preseason’s takers were quarterbacks Patrick Mahomes and Deshaun Watson. In fairness to Mahomes, he played efficiently early one when he completed five of his even passes on the first two drives for 33 yards. However, we didn’t see the fireworks we knew Mahomes was capable of making. Watson, meanwhile, seemed like he was testing his waters, and the temperature was tepid at best. He played only one drive and threw one pass before being replaced by Brandon Weeden.

This is one exciting match, or should we say rematch. It’s like the Superbowl LII again, except of course, less grand. Of course, we shouldn’t expect a full line up but Nick Foles will show up and is sure to perform some snaps after the opener.

Pittsburgh Steelers vs. Green Bay Packers, 8 p.m.

Location: Lambeau Field, Green Bay, Wisconsin

TV: NBC-4 (Milwaukee), NBC-26 (Green Bay), ABC-27 (Madison), Lead stations: CBS-2 (Pittsburgh), CBS-10 (Altoona), CBS-21 (Harrisburg), FOX-66 (Erie), NBC-4 (Columbus, OH), CBS-27 (Youngstown, OH)

Listen: Packers Radio Network

This game is going to be juicy, given both teams’ rich history with each other. 2010 Superbowl saw both teams butt heads and if you can remember, it was one epic game. And let’s not forget that Green Bay’s backup quarterback, Deshone Kizer is still something to watch.

Friday, August 18

New York Giants vs Detroit Lions, 7 p.m.

Location: Ford Field, Detroit, MI

TV: Check your local listings.

During the Giant’s  2018 debut, one star shone. Saquon Barkley will be the one to watch in this match against Detroit. If you’ve watched the Lions last week, you’d have seen that they would have given up 60-yards of a touchdown by Marshawn Lynch had it not been for a Raiders penalty. We’ll see how this game goes exactly, but for now, the odds are in favor for the New York Giants.

Arizona Cardinals at New Orleans Saints, 8 p.m.

Location: Ford Field, Detroit, MI

TV: WVUE – FOX 8 with Joel Meyers (play-by-play), Jon Stinchcomb and Sean Kelley (color analysts) and Meghan Payton (sideline)

Radio: WWL 870 AM and 105.3 FM with Zach Strief (play-by-play), Deuce McAllister (color analyst) and Steve Geller (sideline).

If last week was an indication of Arizona’s defensive play, we can expect some sweet and swift activity from Sam Bradford and Larry Fitzgerald. And although NFL’s Preseason is not always as epic ad thrilling as the real games, we’re sure to see a sneakily good game between the Cardinals and the Saints.

Saturday, August 18

Jacksonville Jaguars at Minnesota Vikings, 1 p.m.

Location: U.S. Bank Stadium, Minneapolis, Minnesota

TV: NFLN

Click here to watch it live.

You can consider this game as a rematch of one of NFL’s most recent trips to London. But this time, it seems like Jalen Ramsey is finished calling out half of his quarterbacks in the NFL. But Kirk Cousins seem to be in his prime during Minnesota’s debut. So this matchup will a superior test for the Jaguars’ secondary.

Chicago Bears at Denver Broncos, 9:05 p.m.

Location: Broncos Stadium at Mile High (76,125), Denver, CO.

TV: 9News – KTVD-20 | NFL Network

Radio: KOA – 850 AM | 94.1 FM & The Fox – 103.5 FM

Stream:  NFL Game Pass (replay only)

Click here to watch it live.

Case Keenum‘s team was routed by the Vikings during last week’s preseason debut. So we should see some more aggressive play coming from him in this match against a team that’s a shy year away from some serious contention. Also, something exciting to anticipate is Denver’s possible debut of linebacker A.J. Johnson, who just came out of a scandal. Johnson has just been acquitted of serious criminal charges since July of this year and hasn’t played a single game in three years.

Monday, August 20

Baltimore Ravens at Indianapolis Colts, 8 p.m.

Location: Lucas Oil Stadium – Indianapolis, IN

TV: Check your local TV stations

Stream:  NFL Game Pass (replay only)

Click here to watch it live.

Wrapping up the NFL’s Preseason Week 2 is Ravens vs. Colts. It will be interesting to see if Andrew Luck will take this second opportunity to prove that he can get on and stay on the field. And on the Ravens’ corner, we’re finally bound to see what Joe Flacco is about. And with the Indianapolis’ new (and hopefully improved) defense strategy, Baltimore will make sure that Robert Griffin II and rookie Lamar Jackson is put to work.
